Peace team wins N.C. title in ‘HR Games’
A team of three Peace College students took the first place title in the statewide “HR Games” competition on Saturday. The victory marked the third year in a row that Peace has won the state title.
Peace’s White Team – made up of Paulette Culp, Maureen Friece and Nikki Marcom – won the championship, overcoming a field of 17 teams from six schools across the state: Peace, Meredith, N.C. State, UNC-Charotte, UNC-Wilmington and N.C. A&T University. The team defeated Meredith in the championship round.
Peace’s Green Team – made up of Paige Atkins, Lauren Rouse and Tracey Wright – finished sixth in the competition.
Peace goes on to compete in the Southeast Regional “HR Games” on April 18 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Between 25 and 30 teams are expected at that competition. Peace teams won the Southeast title in 2007 and placed second in the Southeast in 2005.
The Peace College “HR Games” teams were coached this year by Kathy Corley. The “HR Games” competition is sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management.
