Michelle
Frick '03
Michelle Frick '03 credits her Peace experience for
her success in the classroom. The Oxford, N.C., native
received the 2005 First-Year Teacher of the Year award
for Raleigh's Athens Drive High School and was a finalist
for Wake County’s Teacher of the Year.
"Teaching can be a thankless job, so I’m
glad to know my school is paying attention to my efforts,"
she said. "It’s easy to get lost in a big
county like Wake," she added, so this honor proves
her principal's and colleagues' support of her constant
hard work. |

Jessica
Coscia '01
Jessica Coscia '01 originally thought Peace College
was a beautiful historical mansion during a visit to
Raleigh.
A tour of the intimate campus, the promise of small
classes and the potential to forge close relationships
influenced her decision to stay since her family moved
often, emigrating from Puerto Rico to Washington, D.C.,
finally settling in Manteo, N.C. |

has three, after all — one at her house, one on
wheels and one in her seafood market and restaurant,
Jezebel’s Salty Fare in Raleigh.
"I want this place to be a reflection of what it’s
like to be at my house," Dixon said of her restaurant.
"My business is an extension of my kitchen." |

their ages, these relationships have been a common thread
throughout her life and have always been a positive
influence. |

Candy
Clapp Randall '78
When not brokering $10 million downtown redevelopment
deals for the City of Rock Hill, S.C., Candy Clapp Randall
'78 retreats to her love of dramatic arts. This Greensboro
native and former Hollywood scriptwriter has been instrumental
in the runaway success of the Merry Pranksters Theatrical
Troupe, a group of exceptionally-challenged actors who
overcome physical and mental disabilities by performing
stage productions to mainstream audiences.

Lynn
Lancaster Gorges '73
Lynn Lancaster Gorges '73 of New Bern, N.C. finds it
"sew easy" to make institutional items look
pretty and she wants to share her sewing and design
talents with others so they can find joy in making and
giving the creations.
As primary caregiver for her wheelchair-bound mother
who lives in a nursing home, Gorges is in the final
stages of writing a how-to book of sewing projects like
totes, cushions and armrests for mobility devices. A
second book will offer patterns for dining, bathing
and comfort care items for people with disabilities.

Dr.
Druscilla "Drucie" French '67
Dr. Druscilla "Drucie" French '67 is a champion
of women’s studies who seeks to rally, in her
view, a neglected area of scholarship. The Texas native
who now lives in Colorado fondly remembers her Peace
friendships. From Peace she pursued advanced degrees,
employment, a family life, and in 1999, welcomed her
50th birthday with the addition of a doctorate.
