Event Options
Peace on the Road: Welcome a Peace
professor into your community to hear first hand the
fascinating Academic achievements occurring every
day at Peace! From a discussion on Egyptians from
Dr. John Crossno to a literary review from our very
own Dr. Bes Spangler – the choice is yours!
Peace Book Club: As Carolyn Dickens
’72 decreed, “If Oprah can do it, so can
we!” And Peace Alumnae certainly have! Last
year we welcomed the creation of four Peace Alumnae
Book Clubs in NC and VA, which provide a wonderful
opportunity for alumnae to connect and experience
thought provoking discussions. One such discussion
with Kaye Gibbons (Charms for the Easy Life) began
at a local book club and later turned into an Alumnae
Weekend 2006 event with added insights from English
Professors, Dr. Bes Spangler, Dr. Sally Buckner and
Dr. Janet Wester. It was a truly a highlight of the
weekend and we are all looking forward to this year’s
read of Jane Goodall’s A Reason For Hope.
150th Birthday Bash: In 2007, Peace
College will celebrate the extraordinary 150th anniversary
of its founding by William Peace. It was through his
innovative vision to empower and educate women that
this historically significant institution was realized.
Throughout the year, we would love to help you commemorate
Peace’s birthday by assisting in the planning
of your own hometown party where you can celebrate
in grand style! Contact us for more information on
how we can blow out the candles with you and other
Peace Alumna!
